The Big (Pointy) ROCK!

On our way to a day of adventure in the Rocky mountains we decided to finally pay a visit to the enormous Glacier Erradic just outside of Okotoks.  This is one of many that were transported from the Jasper area and deposited here by a glacier 18-10 thousand years ago.
Who, knew there would be the opportunity to explore, inside the Big Rock!  What a treat!  It is risky of course as the rocks above have merely proped themselves as they fell apart with the natural erosion process.  It was wonderful to see, discover and best of all for me, to capture!
Look how far away the Rockies are!  That is only a fraction of the distance that these rocks travelled!

The rock pictured above is roughly the size of the two just down the street from us.  Our own neibourhood is blessed with two Glacier erradics, which is what led us to this much larger one.
